Brettles Charollais Sheep

The Brettles flock of Charollais sheep was started in 1986 and currently consists of 50 older breeding ewes and 20 shearling ewes.

All the flock is now R1 (ARR/ARR) genotype and we only use R1 rams to make sure all Charollais bred at Brettles are R1.

The flock is M.V. (Maedi Visna) accredited.

Central Region Southern

The Brettles flock was awarded the trophy for the Champion Flock for the Southern section of the Central Region in the 2009 flock competition. This is a wonderful result for the flock but even more encouraging was the fact that the Brettles ewes achieved the highest points score of any ewes in the whole Central Region.
